  • Find what you're passionate and excited about

When you have a subject that you're really passionate about it really shows in your pictures whether its taking pictures of people on the street, food, nature, or something controversial.

Don't worry if your passion isn't an instant success - it takes time to cultivate. Challenge yourself with an achievable project and force yourself to take out your camera and just do it.

  • Work on your editing and developing skills

Photojournalists are responsible for editing and developing the pictures and get them ready for publication. You should know how to edit your pictures whether your a photographer working for a magazine or just posting a picture on facebook

  • Find local issues in your area

See what's going on in your area. Is has there been a fire nearby? Is there a protest about the trees or animals. Is the courthouse having a discussion about legal worlds for environmental problems? Go out a talk to people and find out what's happening in your area.

  • Join a group that shares your interests
