Addressing Food Insecurity and ADA Accessibility at Humboldt State University
We aim to: Build a movement for students to grow their food on campus. Create a community that takes responsibility in caring for one another. Expand food access to students with disabilities by building an ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compatible garden bed. Switch from our current dependency on corporate capitalism to self-sufficiency

“Food security exists when all people, at all times, have physical and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food that meets their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life.”
- World Food Summit (1996)

If we improve food security and reduce the contribution of food systems to climate change, we need to become more adaptable and start using all the space we have. Instead of food systems based on capitalism production ideals concentrated on profit and optimizing and exploiting the land. Governments should support small-scale and sustainable products because it will allow us to regenerate soils, save fuel, reduce global warming and achieve food sovereignty.
